LASIK — which stands for Laser-Assisted Intrastromal Keratomileusis — is a surgical procedure designed to reduce your dependence on glasses and contact lenses by altering the curvature of the eye to correct nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism. Before a patient can be approved for LASIK surgery, they must undergo a complimentary 90-minute screening evaluation to determine whether or not they are a good candidate. During this evaluation, a map of your eyes will be created with Orbscan®, and your current visual status will be assessed with an autorefractor.
