ADICA - Distributed Resources

ADICA - Distributed Resources

Distributed Energy Resources have the ability to serve or manage onsite load and encompass demand response, distributed generation, and energy efficiency. Several economic, reliability, and environmental factors make distributed resources an important option for managing energy prices, ensuring secure and reliable power, and reducing requirements for additional power generation. While distributed resources have potential benefits to utilities, customers, and society at large, it is considered to be an underutilized resource whose value is just beginning to be tapped in electricity markets around the world. In October 2008, ADICA launched an International Collaboration Program to Strengthen Planning, Analysis, and Implementation of Distributed Energy Resources (ICP-DER). The major objectives of this international collaboration program are to: * Develop human resources for Smart Market planning and policy-making support * Facilitate cooperation and business relations with among research institutes, federal and regional organizations, universities, and technology vendors renowned in the planning, analysis, and implementation of distributed resources. To realize this purpose, ICP-DER members collaborate on the following research topics: * Review and participate in ongoing distributed resource research in the U.S. * Review and document distributed resource technologies, programs, and policies in U.S. electricity markets
